Monthly Service Challenge 2014

I'm pretty sure you've heard of Monthly Photo Challenges by now. They're everywhere...Instagram, Facebook, blogs...you name it.

If you haven't, allow me to explain for a minute.  The objective is to be challenged to take a photo everyday of a certain prompt (e.g. color, object, action, etc.)  You must find whatever the prompt is asking for and photograph it. Simple, right?

Well, the Monthly Service Challenge is a slightly different take on this same concept.  Read on and I'll tell you how so...

I took part in an iPhone Photography Challenge through Big Picture Classes last summer.  It was the first one I had ever taken part in and, to be honest, I really enjoyed it.  Here's why:  it caused me to focus on the beauty that was all around me that may have otherwise gone unnoticed.  It was as if I saw the world through a different lens that month.

It's amazing how many red-colored things you can find if you had to!

With that same concept in mind, could you imagine how much good you could do if you were prompted to do so and all the guess work was done for you?

That being said, the Monthly Service Challenge is about being of service to others as Jesus Christ intended us to be.  "...remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: It is more blessed to give than to receive." Acts 20:35

A lot of people would love to be of service to others but don't know where to start. That's where the Monthly Service Challenge comes in.

On the first day of every month, I will provide you with a prompt that will allow you to focus on doing a random act of kindness for that month and I'll make sure to post a link of each challenge on this page below. You can feel free to do it once a month, once a week or once a day. Whatever is comfortable for you and, don't worry, it won't be anything too crazy.  I'm thinking more like fun and cute!

Just try it. You may be surprised at how much you enjoy being of service to others and how great you'll feel afterwards.

What a blessing it is to be a blessing!
